From logistics and internal transport to support in hospitality and other service environments.

This also raises a familiar question: will robots soon take over human jobs?

That question is understandable. But in practice, it is more interesting to look at which tasks can be supported by technology and what that means for the people working with it.

Not the role, but the tasks

A job consists of various tasks. Some require personal contact, experience, and judgment. Others are repetitive, predictable, or physical in nature.

It is precisely for these latter tasks that robotics can offer support. Think, for example, of the repeated transport of materials, goods, or other necessities within an organization.

Robotics is therefore not just about which tasks can be performed technically. Just as important is what it delivers for the people working with it. When repetitive tasks are organized differently, space is created to devote time and attention to other activities.

Where robots can provide support

Robotics can be used, for example, for:

internal transport;

moving materials or goods;

service deliveries;

repetitive logistics tasks;

other predictable processes.

These are tasks that are necessary for an organization but do not always require human interaction or expertise.

When a robot supports a portion of these, employees can use their time differently.

More room for human qualities

A robot can transport something or perform a task according to a fixed process. But service consists of more than just performing an action.

Personal attention, communication, judgment, and dealing with unexpected situations remain important.

That is why, in robotics, we don’t just look at what is technically possible. Just as important is the question of what an application means for employees, processes, and the people to whom an organization delivers its services.

Technology should support the work, not make it unnecessarily complicated.

Robotics starts with the process

Purchasing a robot just because robotics is developing rapidly is not a goal in itself.

A successful application therefore does not start with the robot, but with the organization. Which tasks are performed daily? Where do bottlenecks arise? Which repetitive tasks take up a lot of time? And where can robotics actually add value?

Only when that is clear can you look at which form of robotics fits the situation.

That could mean a robot performs certain tasks independently. But it could just as easily mean that human and robot each take on a different role within the same process.

Humans and technology as one team

The development of robotics is moving fast. Yet its value lies not only in what a robot can do.

The real question is how technology is deployed within an organization.

At NewConsultancy, we therefore view robotics as part of a larger whole: people, technology, and processes that must align with each other. Not human or robot, but looking at where both can strengthen each other.

Curious about where robotics can support your organization? We would be happy to brainstorm with you.

Robots are becoming increasingly visible in the workplace.
